Enjoy this whimsical, functional birdhouse with candy land details for years to come.  This decorated birdhouse resembles the ornate gingerbread houses seen during winter holidays. A bright red door with green trim creates a welcoming look, flanked by candy-cane striped poles. Starlight peppermint shapes adorn the base line of the house, and some on the front around the entrance hole bring continuity. Candy cane shapes above two faux windows, and icing-inspired dots and swirls further the theme. The 1.125" diameter entrance hole rests above the door, and leads to a spacious compartment for a bird family. This interior is unfinished, protecting nestlings from fumes or other toxic elements, and a back panel lifts for easy nest checks. Four drainage holes allow excess water to escape, for a dry nest. The plastic roof protects the unit, and the brown colors evoke gingerbread cookies. Attach the included hanging tab to the back of the house, and mount it on a tree or post, or place the item in your home for seasonal décor.

Please Note: This bird house is designed for outdoor use and is as functional as it is decorative. With time, this product will need to be refinished when left outdoors. The shingle (cedar) will patina to a silvery color and the piece will become weathered and distressed, but continue to maintain its functionality. Should you wish to preserve the finish, you should use a polyurethane product that is recommended for marine use (UV Rated) that will not turn white paint yellow. Polyurethane should only be used on the exterior of the bird house - the interior should be left unfinished.
